How I almost got scammed by a client as an online hair vendor

As you may or may not know, I’m a hair vendor. A client reached out to me that she wanted to get a particular hair, i told her the price and told her everything she needs to know about the hair, if you are familiar with hairs you’d know that Vietnam hairs are coarse in texture, She didn’t really care and from the way she was deleting her messages after she noticed i’ve read them looked suspicious but I didn’t take it seriously.

After we’ve concluded, she then said since it was her first time buying from me, she’d like to pay 50% upfront then complete the rest upon delivery, considering the way she spoke and sounded convincing I obliged. When the hair was ready for delivery, I reached out to her and asked where to deliver to, she said to deliver to her son at home, the rider then headed to the address, meanwhile I told the rider that the receiver must transfer the balance and wait for me to confirm before leaving the premises, it was the agreement but the receiver collected the hair and went inside, locked the door and never came out

The rider then called me and narrated everything that happened and that he’s been outside for hours that he’s leaving, I called the women and told her what happened, she then said she will be the one to send the money and her network was bad at that time that the rider should give him the hair that she will send the money once her network was stable, she forgot she told me her son will send the money immediately the rider give him the hair. I then told the rider to stick around the house and wait for the boy to come out and when he does, he should hold him and make sure he collects the hair back. Fortunately, he succeeded in collecting the hair and left. The mother immediately called me yelling that why would the rider go with the hair when she was about to make the transfer. I then told her there was no way I’d give the hair without the balance. Long story short, she finally agreed again that the boy would transfer upon delivery the next day and he did.
